Sarathkumar Ramanathan was born on July 14, 1954 is also an Indian Journalist, politician, body builder and the current president of the South Indian Film Artistes' Association. He started his career in Tamil cinema playing negative roles and later played minor roles in other movies. He was first chosen for the lead role in Suriyan, which was a success at the box office. He has frequently played the role of an honest cop. He also began a new political party in Tamil Nadu to carry out the ideals of K. Kamaraj.
Sarathkumar was born on July 14, 1954 in a Tamil nadar family in New Delhi to M. Ramanathan and Pushpa Leela. He has a sister named Mallika Ramanathan. He graduated with a Bachelor of science in Mathematics from The New College in Chennai.
He served as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam member of parliament in the Rajya Sabha.Before his entry into films, he began a career as a journalist. He recently continued journalism after starting his own magazine.Sarathkumar is married to actress Raadhika Sarathkumar. His first wife was Chaya Sarathkumar, with whom he has two daughters named Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Pooja Sarathkumar. He is married to Raadhika Sarathkumar since 2001 and they have a son named Rahul, who was born in 2004. Sarathkumar is also the stepfather to Raadhika's daughter Rayanne.Sarathkumar has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. He has received critical acclaim for his roles in the films Cheran Pandian, Pulan Visaranai, Sooriyan, Nattamai, Suryavamsam, Natpukkaga, Pazhassi Raja, Oridathoru Postman.
