Pranchiyettan and the Saint - Profile

In 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint', Mammootty plays Pranchiyettan, a rice merchant based in Thrissur. Pranchiyettan has all the things that money can buy, and yet he lives with the desire to achieve something even more. He yearns to achieve the Padmasri, the National honour that has been bestowed on several persons and ties every trick in the book to get one for himself. However, his attempts never bear fruit. At a crucial stage in his life, he meets Poly (Ganapathi), a young boy who changes his life forever. Pranchi gets to learn a few facts about life from him.
